As with last month’s blog post, we have more bonus weekly marketing tips for small businesses in the United Kingdom. Back to the normal schedule in March 2023, make sure you are following Digidol’s Instagram and Facebook to get each weekly tip on your news feed.
FOCUS YOUR EFFORTS – Weekly Tip #011
Yes, social media marketing is an amazing tool that can bring about great returns without spending a penny. However, your time is also a precious commodity and you need to make sure that you are being as efficient as possible with such a valuable resource.
Sometimes this involves dropping a social media platform as it simply isn’t right for your product or service – or if you are just setting up, avoiding certain platforms altogether.
Choose your social media platforms based on what you offer. If you have a visual product then Instagram and Facebook are incredible platforms, allowing you to promote your product or service effortlessly with great graphics. On the other hand, if your product is more practical or a professional service, then Instagram isn’t the best-suited platform, with Twitter or LinkedIn much better for guiding users to your website.
Concrete Solutions focus on posting on Facebook and Instagram as their completed projects provide a great visual to share. These platforms are also where the majority of their clients base will be looking and sharing posts, ensuring they reach the right audience.
Actionable Tips
Choose Your Fighter – Take a look at the social media platforms you are on or are planning to set up and think about what are the benefits and drawbacks of each option. Remember, if you are posting for the sake of posting then you are only wasting your own time and you will not maximise your returns.
Horses For Courses – Assess your content and see which platforms it is best suited to and whether it needs minor adjustments in order to better perform on different platforms.
For example, at Digidol we post our weekly tips on only Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram as they are too long for Twitter; but for our weekly blog, we only post on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter as driving Instagram traffic to click on links is much more difficult.

TAKE A BREAK – Weekly Tip #012
The more vigilant readers will have noticed that last week there was no weekly digital marketing tip from Digidol. This was simply because other responsibilities such as our commitment to clients’ ongoing projects and life got in the way.
Admittedly, at Digidol, I should practice what I preach and my posts should be planned at least a week in advance rather than a ‘typing to posting’ existence.
But the world isn’t perfect, which is something that all small business owners and sole traders definitely know about. Sometimes you need to take a few days off to recharge the batteries so that you can get back to completing your best work!
Actionable Tip
Do What You Can – At Digidol I stand by the fact that digital marketing is as difficult as you make it. You can spend hours worrying over the smallest details, which in the grand scheme don’t matter as much as you think.
So take it easy on yourself, if you can find a bit of spare time to get a post out then do it, your customers will probably appreciate hearing from you. However, if you don’t have time or just simply forget to post, don’t be too hard on yourself – at the end of the day, we are all human.
Monthly Summary
- Focus Your Efforts – Make sure you spend your time wisely by posting in the right places to reach your audience.
- Take A Break – Don’t be too hard on yourself if you forget to post or take a break from social media, we are all human.
